Stories

The annual London Festival of Architecture (LFA) is a month-long celebration of architecture and city-making taking place across London in June. The festival's aim is to open up discussions around architecture, test new ideas and uncover and promote new talent.

Welcoming everyone into the conversation around architecture and the city, the vast programme of more than 400 exceptional events and activities is delivered by a diverse mix of independent organisations and individuals. The theme for this year's festival is 'In Common'.

This year SimpsonHaugh will be participating in a number of events as part of this year's festival. We're also pleased to be collaborating with the Central District Alliance (CDA) on two of these events. The CDA have been working with Islington Council to explore the potential for new green spaces in Clerkenwell. This reflects Islington's commitment to increasing green space in the borough, as well as CDA's commitment to supporting greener and more sociable shared spaces for everyone. Working with delivery partners YesMake, together they identified Roberts Place as having the potential to become a new green space. As it lies just outside of our London studio, SimpsonHaugh are thrilled to have the opportunity to support the initiative and to be collaborating with CDA during the LFA.

Art Installation

Inspired by our collaborators at CDA and their design vision for the pocket park at Roberts Place, from Tuesday 13 - Thursday 22 June, a SimpsonHaugh-designed installation will feature outside of our London studio in Clerkenwell. Designed to celebrate the festival and in response to the 2023 'In Common' theme, this vibrant installation will brighten up the streetscape and will be positioned for everyone passing-by to see and enjoy. More details about the design process will be released leading up to the unveiling of the installation on our social media channels - stay posted!

Studio Lates Event

This year SimpsonHaugh are taking part in the London Festival of Architecture annual Studio Lates event. The Studio Lates programme is held in four different areas of London on Fridays in June. On Friday 16 June we will be joining the other studios in the Clerkenwell area opening their doors. Join us at our Clerkenwell studio for drinks, nibbles, and a chance to explore our practice's work and meet the team. The event will be open 17:00 - 19:30 - all are welcome!

We are looking forward to hosting these events and to participating in the wider London Festival of Architecture programme.
